And we have a winner! This song is feelthy! I wish the guitar was mixed a little higher at the end, as it gets lost in the drum crashes, but that might just be my cheap headphones. Kill4Me: Oh wow, that groove. Avery design pro 55 software.

And those synths. Pale Emperor mashed up with Mechanical Animals? This album is insanely diverse so far, and I love it. I have zero idea what to expect from the second half. Saturnalia: Mmm, that bassline. This is a really interesting track. This one will need more listens before I say much about it.

I love the weirdly surf-rocky guitar riff. Jesus Crisis: I was apprehensive about this one, given the title and that cringey lyric the Metal Hammer review quoted, and that line is still cringey, but I'm really liking this.

Oh shit, just hit the moment others have mentioned. Still, probably the weakest song so far. Blood Honey: Whoa, this is clearly the EMDM track, haha. Damn, this is EXCELLENT. Going to be divisive, I think, but I am really, really into this.

Again, those synths. I just want this song on repeat for the rest of the day, haha. Heaven Upside Down: And that brings us to the THEOL-sounding track. Again, not sure on this one. Further listening required. Initial impression: Good, but drags things down a little.

Threats of Romance: Oh shit, I like this a lot. Another callback line in 'I like you damaged'. Really strong finisher. Strange song altogether, but I mean that as a compliment for sure. All in all: YES.

I'm going to make a bold claim here after one listen and say that this is the best one since Golden Age. Fuck me, it actually lived up to expectations and then some. My only complaint is that it's too damn short, just like Pale Emperor. It just needs one or two more tracks to feel complete.

You guys waiting for the official release are going to be stoked, I think. Edit: Second listen, and the two tracks I wasn't sure about have clicked already. Every last song is a winner.

The Dope Show's single release was accompanied by a surrealistic music video directed by Paul Hunter, which began filming on August 8, 1998 and which premiered on August 20, 1998. In scenes reminiscent of The Man Who Fell to Earth, Manson appears red-haired, with his entire body, including prosthetic rubber breasts, covered in white latex paint as an androgynous extraterrestrial wandering around the Hollywood Hills. He is captured, studied in a laboratory, and eventually transported by limousine to a stage where he and the other members of the band the fictional band Omega and the Mechanical Animals perform the song in concert before hysterical fans who end up rioting and crossing the security barriers.
