But I'd say you'll have a similar experience with the Brix. The thunderbolt support in linux is getting lots of attention recently, so for that arch is a good choice with its up-to-date kernels. As of Kernel 4.12, also all USB-C functionality works (Dispalyport over it, can connect USB-C hdds). One thing I noticed is that Intel releases one bios update after the other, while the Brix have very infrequent releases, if at all. Now the Intel NUCs also needed them, as they initial bios was utter crap.
But for Gigabyte I don't know if this means they have a rock-solid bios or if they just don't get much love.
