4 answers The instructions for the current model presume that the paddle can be easily removed: The paddle in my pre-owned BB420 is so difficult to remove that I am cleaning it in place. The paddle should wriggle free, pulling up as turning.as per instructions, next time you are successful removing paddle spray a little kitchen non stick spray on paddle rod in the bowl. Otherwise contact Breville they were very helpful. 1/2 fill the pan with hot, soapy water. Wait a little while and you can pull the paddle out easily. You really need to do this because it is too difficult to properly clean around the paddle with it in situ.
