Yes, BestBuy GeekSquad is ISF certified, but it's not exactly a bachelor's degree.

When doing my research about purchasing a BestBuy calibration, I stumbled across avsforum.com (where the AVS 709 HD was first developed, methinks) and it was pages like that made me feel BestBuy calibrations may be mediocre. So yes, I have not had a BestBuy calibration and can't say for certainty they don't do an absolutely amazing job; however, the consensus among enthusiasts is that it's mediocre. I can confirm the mediocrity. I got Best Buy calibration when I bought my LG TV. The guy (and he said so himself) spent twice as long calibrating my TV as he usually would because I was striking up interesting conversation about calibration stuff with him.
He never had a customer that was interested in this stuff. I ended up buying my own CalMAN software and calibration meter a few months later. Even though he spent twice as long on my calibration as he normally would have, I was able to get a far flatter gamma curve and more accurate colors on my own even though that was the first time I'd ever tried calibration with a colorimeter. For half the price it costs to get a calibration from Best Buy, you could rent (for 14 days!) a high quality C6 meter and CalMAN software from SpectraCal and get better results for yourself.
The software can be kind of confusing so be prepared to spend a decent amount of time figuring out how to do things properly. But with 14 days of rental time, that should give you enough time. I ended up doing using a community made process flow (can't remember specifically which one but you would find them here: ) and the AVS HD calibration videos found at EDIT: Just looked through the workflows and the one I used was the one made by GeerGuy. It was for Version 4 of CalMAN, but he has also made one for the newest Version 5.
